The Blue and White won a strong-willed victory over CSKA in the match of the 16th round of the WORLD RPL.
Both teams approached the Brotherhood Derby with identical points, even the number of wins, losses and draws was the same. “Dynamo” was ranked higher only due to the advantage in personal meetings: the “blue and white” won against the army team on August 19 – since then CSKA has not lost in the championship.
The winner of Saturday’s game would move into clear third place. Taking into account the home game in the first round, Vladimir Fedotov’s team, which had won five victories and drawn twice in the previous seven matches at VEB Arena, should be considered the favorite.
Time named after Faizullaev
There were no special surprises in the starting lineups of the teams. The army team came out in the usual combination for recent matches with Zdelar as one of the central defenders and the attacking trio of Faizullaev-Chalov-Zabolotny. At Dynamo, the disqualified Chavez was predictably replaced in the center by Daniil Fomin, and instead of the injured Dasa, Sergei Parshivlyuk, who rarely plays this season, appeared on the right in defense.
It didn’t take long for the teams to warm up. Already in the seventh minute, Dynamo managed to open the scoring: Laxalt brought Bitello one on one with Akinfeev with a cutting pass, and the Brazilian skillfully dealt with the army captain.

For the army team, missing a goal was like ammonia fumes. The hosts immediately cheered up and simply did not let the Dynamo players leave their half of the field. With the help of short and medium passes, CSKA easily reached someone else’s penalty area, but for the time being the army team was unable to convert their chances. Zabolotny hit the crossbar after a cross, and Gayich missed the opportunity to provide an assist a couple of times in a simple situation.
The transition from quantity to quality occurred in the middle of the half, when Chalov gracefully left the ball with his heel for Abbos Fayzullaev to hit, and he delivered a powerful blow to the center of the goal. In this episode, Igor Leshchuk did not play the best: the Dynamo goalkeeper somehow clumsily tried to stop the ball, which eventually flew into the goal.

Faizullaev, who became the main discovery of the RPL in the first part of the season, once again proved his importance for the CSKA attack. However, the Uzbek player did not limit himself to just scoring a goal. His activity shortly before the break led to the second goal. The nimble midfielder deftly dealt with the guards in someone else’s penalty area and delivered the perfect cross to Zabolotny.

Now the 20-year-old player, bought last summer from Pakhtakor for 500 thousand euros, already has 2 goals and 5 assists in 11 championship matches.
Carrascal’s release changed a lot
Immediately after the break, Lichka removed the inconspicuous Makarov and Smolov from the field, who were replaced by Ngamale and Carrascal. At the same time, chances continued to arise at the Dynamo goal. The same Faizullaev could have scored a double at the beginning of the second half, but this time Leshchuk played reliably.
But Bitello took advantage of his chance to score the second goal brilliantly. After a throw by Carrascal and a discount from Tyukavin, the Brazilian outwardly outplayed Akinfeev very easily. This episode did not follow from the logic of the game, but here the army team could only blame themselves for a lot of unrealized chances.

With the score 2:2, the teams also did not think to be cautious. The game was played virtually without a middle field, which only added to the spectacle. “Dynamo” became bolder after the second goal, so that dangerous moments began to arise at both goals: as soon as Faizullaev once again forgave the opponent, Tyukavin responded in the same way, who failed to score after going one-on-one.
Carrascal’s appearance at the beginning of the second half was largely decisive in turning the game around. The Colombian, who clearly harbored a grudge against Vladimir Fedotov, took an active part in both scoring episodes. If in the first case the ex-army man provided the pre-goal assist, then in the 74th minute it was after his blocked shot that Konstantin Tyukavin managed to score the winning goal.

The CSKA players were no longer able to find the strength to win back again. Dynamo managed to win the Bratsk Derby for the second time this season and moved into clear third place in the table. The army team lost at home for the first time in the current championship and interrupted their 10-match unbeaten streak in the RPL, which started in August just after the defeat from Dynamo.
