Honored coach of Russia Valery Nepomnyashchy called Sochi a contender for relegation from the MIR Russian Premier League (RPL) at the end of the 2023/24 season.
On Saturday, Sochi lost away to Zenit (0:3) in the match of the 16th round of the WORLD RPL. The club is in 16th place in the standings with 10 points.
— Unfortunately, now Sochi is a real contender for relegation, this is very sad. The team had problems at the beginning of the season, but I don’t think anyone expected it to go this far. 10 points and last place after 16 rounds is not their level at all. Of course, this is very frustrating – just recently Sochi won silver medals in the Russian Championship, and now they could be relegated to the First League. I hope that this will not happen, but everything is heading towards this,” RB Sport quotes Nepomniachtchi.
