“Spartak” will not qualify for a place in the top 3 in the RPL if Abaskal is not fired – Smorodskaya
Moscow “Spartak” will not fight to get into the top three in the Russian championship if Guillermo Abascal remains the head coach of the team, says former Lokomotiv president Olga Smorodskaya.
— Will Spartak compete for RPL medals this season? If Abascal is not fired before the winter break, then it won’t happen. Perhaps they will be in the top five, but they probably won’t be among the top three with such an unstable game. Abaskal’s work at Spartak is not impressive yet, I don’t see any results, so we can’t expect a miracle from them,” Smorodskaya told RB Sport.
The Red and Whites are in fourth place in the RPL standings, six points behind the leading Zenit.
Abaskal took charge of Spartak in the summer of 2022 and led the team to RPL bronze medals in its debut season. In February, the club extended the contract with the Spanish specialist until the summer of 2025.
