“Why couldn’t we play in March?” Karpin criticized the format of the Russian Cup
Rostov head coach Valery Karpin, speaking on Match TV, criticized the format of the ¼ finals of the RPL FONBET Russian Cup after the match with CSKA.
The first quarterfinal game in Rostov-on-Don ended with a score of 1:1. The return meeting will take place in Moscow in March.
— How do you assess the format of the Russian Cup, when one opposition match is at the end of November, and the return match is in March.
– Any person will say that this is a disaster. I don’t understand why it was necessary to play today. Why couldn’t we play in March? There are no Eurocups. Finding time to play was more than enough. Or finish the game in this part of the season,” Karpin told Match TV.
The winner of the confrontation will advance to the semi-finals of the RPL Path, the loser will go to the second stage of the quarter finals of the Regional Path.
Rostov will play against CSKA again in the 17th round of the RPL on December 3.
