The management of Spartak should not draw conclusions regarding the future of the team’s head coach Guillermo Abascal after the defeat from Orenburg in the FONBET Russian Cup, says former coach of the “red-whites” Igor Ledyakhov.

The first quarterfinal match of the RPL Path was held in Orenburg and ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of the hosts. The return game will take place in mid-March in Moscow.

— I don’t think that anything terrible happened for Spartak. I would like, of course, for Spartak not to lose to Orenburg, but since this happened… They won the last two matches in the championship and are gaining points. The next game against Akhmat is the key one. If they score maximum points before the winter break, I think they will be in the top three. We must wait and make a decision on Abascal during the break. Now “Spartak” needs to move with him, Ledyakhov told RB Sport.

Spartak is in fourth place in the RPL standings, gaining 27 points in 16 matches.

In the 17th round, the capital team will play away against Akhmat Grozny. The meeting will take place on December 3, watch the game live on the MATCH PREMIER TV channel starting at 18:55 (Moscow time).
