Defender of “Paris NN” Dmitry Tikhy spoke about a conflict with a Russian specialist Spartak Gogniev while playing for Khimki.
It all started well, but very soon it became clear that what he was asking of us was impossible to achieve. Fun standards, the goalkeeper chased, like in a super attacking game. All this may be interesting, but at that moment it was impossible to bring it to life.
You always have to start from reality, especially when the team is last in the table and desperately needs points. The improvisation that Gogniev wanted from us was suicide for the club. His approach was strange and the results speak for themselves.
I’ve spent half my life in the Premier League and I’m clearly aware that what works in the First League won’t always be effective in RPL. Here the slightest mistake is immediately punished. Gogniev apparently wasn’t ready for the Premier League. Trying to build a new philosophy mid-season and essentially form a new team in the winter transfer window was like a death sentence. Any sane person understood: this would result in demotion. But, apparently, the Khimki management thought differently. In fact, they themselves sent the team to the First League.
Gogniev asked me: “I heard rumors that you don’t believe in our concept. Is this true?” Well, I said directly: “If we continue in the same spirit, the First League awaits us, this style of play does not suit us. What you are proposing is suicide.” I simply told the truth as it is I saw. That’s exactly why I was suspended.
Tikhy played for Khimki from February 2019 to March 2023. Now the 31-year-old Russian has a contract with Paris NN until the summer of 2025. This season he has 9 matches and one yellow card. Spartak Gogniev led Khimki from September 2022 to April 2023. The specialist has been unemployed since then.
Based on last season’s results RPL Khimki are relegated to the First League.
