Rennes beat Maccabi Haifa on a neutral field and reached the Europa League playoffs

French Rennes won a big victory over Israeli Maccabi Haifa in the fifth round of the Europa League group stage match.

The match ended with a score of 3:0, the goals were scored by Martin Terrier, Amin Gouiri and Fabian Rieder.

The game was moved to Budapest for security reasons – home matches of Israeli clubs are played outside the country after the escalation of the military conflict in the Middle East.

“Rennes” leads the standings of Group F with 12 points after five matches. Julien Stephan’s team guaranteed itself access to the spring stage of the Europa League.

The Spanish Villarreal are in second place (6 points in three matches), the Greek Panathinaikos (4 points in four games) are third. Maccabi finishes the table with 1 point.

The winners of the Europa League groups advance directly to the 1/8 finals of the tournament. The teams that finish second will play the clubs that finish third in their Champions League groups in the first round of the playoffs.
