“In the return matches of the Russian Cup playoffs, top clubs will field their main squads” – Belous

Former president of FC Moscow Yuri Belous expressed the opinion that the leading clubs will play with their main squads in the return matches of the quarterfinals of the FONBET Russian Cup.

In the first matches of the quarter finals of the RPL Path, Lokomotiv could not beat Baltika (2:2), Spartak lost to Orenburg (0:1), Zenit lost to Dynamo (0:1), and CSKA played a draw with Rostov (1:1).

— The share of the Russian Championship is higher than the Cup games. Subconsciously, the players and coaching staff understand that in a few days they will play a championship match. But, in my opinion, we cannot neglect the Cup matches – after all, this is the shortest path to the title. And winning the trophy will be written down in history in golden letters. Now the two-match confrontation has begun. This is even more interesting. For example, Zenit lost to Dynamo. It is clear that a one-goal advantage is not that significant. But winning the return match will not be very easy for St. Petersburg. For CSKA, a draw is a satisfactory result. But at home they will, of course, play differently. They definitely want to win the trophy. I think that in the return matches the top clubs will field more basic squads. These are decisive games,” Belous said.

The return matches in pairs will take place in the spring of 2024.
