Former owner of Leeds Massimo Cellino talked about the episode where he accidentally fired the team’s coach. Cellino acquired the rights to the club in 2014 and sold them in 2017.
My English was terrible, my pronunciation was worse. When I arrived, there was a bloody velvet sofa in the Elland Road office. Viola. I said, “Take that damn couch away, I’ll never see it again. And they fired that damn coach!”
I was asked: “Who will lead the team tomorrow during the Huddersfield match?” I replied: “What’s going on? Don’t we have a coach? They replied: “You fired him.” I said, “Did I fire the coach? Damn!”
It was around 10pm and 2,000 fans came to the stadium and wanted to destroy me. They hid me in the stadium and then took me out in a police car. They told me: “You’d better not go to the match tomorrow”.
Damn purple!
