Deportivo Cali striker Teofilo Gutierrez has been suspended for four matches for inappropriate behavior in a Colombian championship match, reports ESPN.
The incident occurred in a match with the Deportivo Tolima club. Leaving the field for a break, the 38-year-old player grabbed the buttocks of a girl who was standing near the tribune room and was responsible for logistics at the game. After returning to the field, he repeated his gesture again.
The disciplinary committee of the Colombian Primera A disqualified Gutierrez for four matches of the national championship and also fined him one million Colombian pesos (about $250).
— The slanderous statements made against me have no basis. They do not correspond to what happened during the break of the match.
I will defend my good name in all instances. Once again I confirm my sincere commitment to respecting women,” the football player commented on the situation on the social network.
As part of the Colombian national team, Gutierrez played 52 matches and scored 15 goals; in 2014, together with the national team, he participated in the World Cup in Brazil.
In 2014, Gutierrez was recognized as the best player of the year in South America.
