The MIR clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL) voted for the return of red balls, which they will be able to play in the upcoming matches of the 17th round of the Russian Championship, RPL Marketing and Communications Director Anton Fetisov told Match TV.
In the 16th round of the RPL Baltika hosted Spartak in Kaliningrad in the Russian Championship match, the game took place on November 25. Before the starting whistle, heavy snow began to fall, which is why the white ball with orange splashes was difficult to see on the television broadcast.
After this, the RPL promised that in the near future the league would resolve the issue of supplying red balls so that this situation would not repeat itself in the spring part of the season, as well as in the next championship.
“The clubs really supported the idea of returning red balls through voting, which means that, if necessary, they can already play with red balls in the 17th round. As for specific matches, the league prepares the ball for each match in agreement with the clubs,” Fetisov said.
