UEFA did not include the Russian national team among the participants in the next Nations League
The Russian national team was not included in the draw for the Nations League in the 2024/25 season, according to a release on the website of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
The draw will take place in Paris on February 8, 2024. The tournament will feature 54 teams divided into Leagues A, B, C and D.
The Belarusian national football team is listed among the participants in the tournament and is not subject to restrictions from UEFA, unlike Belarusian teams in a number of other sports. The Israeli national team has also entered the drawing procedure.
UEFA has suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in tournaments under its auspices in the spring of 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine. The president of the organization, Alexander Čeferin, previously stated that teams from Russia will receive access to European tournaments only if the SVO ends.
The current champion of the UEFA Nations League is the Spanish national team. The competition will start in September 2024 and end in June 2025.
