Former CSKA Moscow football player Evgeny Aldonin called the possible return of 39-year-old Brazilian striker Vagner Love to the club a cool story.
On Saturday, Vagner Love took to social media to say goodbye to the Sport Recife club, for which he played in the Brazilian second division. This Serie B season, the forward has scored 11 goals and provided three assists in 33 matches.
— Wagner made a tremendous contribution to the success of CSKA. But these successes are many years old. It’s hard to say what condition he’s in now. I haven’t seen his last matches. Vagner Love is a great master. But it’s hard for me to imagine how he can help CSKA now. A return is possible, but from the point of view of future prospects: work in a club, in the Latin American market. He is professional and respectful.
Navigating the Brazilian Serie B is difficult. I don’t know what level of football players there are. Wagner is not a young player. Will he have enough strength to compete and be a team leader? There may be questions with this. But the story would be cool and interesting,” Championship quotes Aldonin as saying.
Vagner Love, as part of CSKA, became the champion of Russia three times, won six national cups, and won the UEFA Cup (now the Europa League) in the 2004/05 season.
