Head coach of Rostov Valery Karpin explained why Southerners did not change with CSKA circles in the program of the Russian championship.
As our agronomists said, it was impossible to delay any further: in December it would have been too late, they wouldn’t have had time to prepare the lawn for the second part of the championship.
I emphasize that you will be able to play in Moscow in December. On Saturday, for example, we trained in the capital at the Oktyabr stadium with minus 7 degrees and the pitch was in normal condition: the ball was rolling. I suspect that on Monday we could have played even at minus 6-7 degrees. But the force majeure occurred on a specific Sunday, from 11.00 to 19.00. This cataclysm could have happened in Rostov or any other city in Russia. Or not even in Russia, as happened in Germany this weekend, when Bayern’s match against Union was canceled in Munich due to snowfall.
The question is: who needed this type of football when players were jumping off the tractor during warm-ups? Not to mention that during the game, when the ball was in play, people ran around the field with shovels. Who needed a photo like that? Watching this, I felt very ashamed. Why was it necessary to play football when Daniil Utkin said during a break in an interview that he could not see anything because of the snow flying into his eyes? And needless to say, since the match took place in Kaliningrad with the same weather, there is nothing wrong with that. Let’s always play in this weather then. We destroy the stadiums and mutilate all the fields: can we still play like this? You can play football on the sand, but this is a different sport.
