“Akinfeev proved with his numbers that he is one of the best goalkeepers” – Chanov
Former CSKA goalkeeping coach Vyacheslav Chanov expressed the opinion that army club goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev will become a reference point for the future generation of Russian football players in this role.
Akinfeev has been playing for CSKA since 2003. Together with the “red-blues” he won the Russian Championship six times, won the National Cup seven times, and also won the UEFA Cup in 2005.
– Akinfeev has already copied all the goalkeeping records to himself, including mine, which I’m only happy about. “He simply proves with his numbers that he really is one of the best, and now future goalkeepers will focus precisely on the bar set by Akinfeev,” Chanov told RT.
This season of the Russian Championship, the 37-year-old goalkeeper played 14 matches and kept a clean sheet in four of them.
