Villarreal beat Rennes in the Europa League match and qualified for the playoffs from first place in the group

The Spanish Villarreal defeated the French Rennes on a foreign field in the match of the 6th round of the Europa League.
The meeting of Group F ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of the Submariners.
Lorenz Assignon (37) and Ludovic Blas (79) scored for the hosts, while Gerard Moreno (36, from the penalty spot), Ilyas Ahomach (63) and Dani Parejo (80) scored for the guests. In the 90+12th minute, Rennes equalized the score, but after a VAR review the goal was canceled due to offside. Then the whistle sounded, the referee’s decision caused a negative reaction from the home team, which almost escalated into a mass brawl between both teams with the participation of substitute players, and even a football player on crutches.
Based on the results of six rounds, Villarreal reached the 1/8 of the tournament from the first place of the quartet (13), and Rennes (12) took second place and will now play in the playoff play-offs.
