Former Spartak defender Renat Sabitov told how he once beat Stanislav Cherchesov at billiards.

Sabitov played for Spartak from 2007 to 2011, played 64 matches and provided four assists. Cherchesov was the team’s head coach from 2007 to 2008.

— When I signed a contract with Spartak, Salamych was already at the club as a sports director, so we crossed paths. I have a favorite story when we were playing billiards. Everyone knows that I play billiards so-so, just like football: I may hit it, but I may not. In Tarasovka we played balls from time to time, and Salamych invited me to play after dinner. By some miracle I won. Everything’s gone wrong for me!

Salamych looks at me: “Hmm.” You should have seen his look. Cherchesov laid down the cue, and that was it – I never went out onto his field again. So, I went out to one game because someone was missing out. It all ended with me going on loan. “I still think it’s all because of billiards,” Sabitov told the Championship.
