Former PSG and Nice head coach Christophe Galtier explained why he compared black players to King Kong.

— I used the term King Kong. King Kong is strength and power. I didn’t attach any other meaning other than strength and power. Yes, I used this expression, but not in a racist way,” Galtier quotes RMC Sport.

In June, Galtier and his son John Valovich-Galtier were detained by police in Nice. In April, an email from Nice’s former sporting director, Julien Fournier, emerged alleging comments Galthie made against Muslims and black footballers. Law enforcement was investigating the coach for possible “employment discrimination based on perceived race or religion.”

On December 15, it became known that the Nice prosecutor’s office demands that Galtier be disqualified for three years and asks that he be sentenced to 12 months of suspended imprisonment for racism.

The specialist took charge of PSG in July 2022. Under his leadership, the Parisians won the championship and the French Super Cup.
