FIFA will organize the Intercontinental Cup from 2024

FIFA announced the creation of the Intercontinental Cup, which will be played from 2024.

It is an annual tournament in which the winners of the international tournaments of each confederation will perform. The competition includes several phases.

In the first round of Phase A, the winner of the Asian or African Champions League will face the winner of the Oceania Champions League in their home stadium.

In the next round, the winner of this pair will play against the remaining representative of Asia or Africa. It is worth noting that the order of participation of African and Asian teams in 2024 will be determined by draw, after which it will alternate every year.

The winners of the Cup will compete in phase B CONCACAF and the Copa Libertadores, with the hosts determined by the results of the draw, after which hosting rights will change between the confederations each year.

The final part of the tournament will be played on a neutral pitch. The winner of the match between the winning teams of phases A and B will meet the winner of the Champions League in the final of UEFA.

In 2024, the playoff game will be held on December 14, the final will be held on December 18.
