Urawa Red Diamonds proved to be a tough opponent and a tough test for Manchester City, but all the good work done by the Japanese began to crumble towards the end of the first half. An own goal from Norway’s Heibraten before the break gave Pep Guardiola’s side their first lead.
In the second half, with more space, Mateo Kovacic made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute after speeding away from his markers and the feeling was that history had ended in favor of the English. In 59′ Bernardo Silva made it 3-0 and what followed helped Guardiola to rotate and rest some of his players.
Manchester City will now define the World Cup against the Brazilian Fluminense. Both will be going for their first world title.
