President of the Russian Football Federation Alexander Diukov stated that the clubs of the top two Russian divisions do not yet intend to initiate the issue of switching to the “spring-autumn” system.
The topic of a possible return to the old scheme was raised again due to the fact that several matches of the last rounds are currently underway RPL it took place in difficult weather conditions.
So far the position of the clubs RPL and the First League is that they propose to leave it as it is. We still have to finish in December and the weather remains unpredictable: now we can play football, but two weeks ago we couldn’t. If the regulations are defined, it will be possible to postpone the matches. But the initiative must come from the clubs. We have to react.
Since 2012, the Russian championship has been held according to the “autumn-spring” system.
