Former Volga defender Alexander Belozerov shared his opinion about his shocking colleague at the Nizhny Novgorod club – striker Alexei Sapogov.
According to some media reports, 35-year-old Sapogov is now serving as a monk in the Kemerovo region.
— You played well in Volga Nizhny Novgorod. What amazed Alexey Sapogov there?
“It feels like his slate moved a little when he read Robin Charm’s book The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari.” Maybe I took what was written there too literally. I fell into pseudo-spirituality and began to do incomprehensible things. Moreover, the first year in Nizhny Lesha was very strong. This is an excellent forward with two working legs. But then something began to distract him from football. As a result, inspired by the book, it seems that he himself became a monk,” Sport24 quotes Belozerov.
Sapogov played 22 matches for Volga in the RPL and scored 8 goals. He retired from football in 2016.
