Football player Vasiliev: Zenit gave me everything. If it weren’t for the club, I might not have played football at all.”
St. Petersburg Zenit midfielder Dmitry Vasiliev said that he had received many offers to move to other clubs.
Earlier in December, Zenit announced the extension of the contract with Vasiliev until 2028. The midfielder is a graduate of the Blue-White-Blues.
— You re-signed the contract with Zenit. What does this day mean to you?
– This is a big event for me. 13 years have passed since my arrival at the academy. This is my first serious contract, it took me a long time to get there. I hope this is just the beginning.
— Did you consult anyone about your future? Or was the decision to extend it not challenged by anyone at all?
– So it was. The club gave me everything. If it weren’t for Zenit, I might not have played football at all.
— Were there any offers from other clubs?
– Were. Many people got in touch, but it wasn’t just me. I think they communicate with all Zenit players in one way or another.
— Many Russians, including those from Zenit, have a clause in their contracts about possible departure abroad under adequate conditions. Have you already thought about this career development?
— I also have such a clause in my contract. Since childhood, I imagined myself in a top championship, so we’ll see if there are any offers. But this is not a matter of the near future,” Metaratings.ru quotes Vasiliev as saying.
This season, Vasiliev played nine matches for Zenit in all tournaments.
