Former Dynamo coach Sergei Silkin shared his opinion on the decision of the executive committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to refuse to move to Asia.
At a meeting on Wednesday, the RFU Executive Committee almost unanimously decided to remain in UEFA.
– Why should we move to Asia?
– For gaming practice.
– With whom? This is not serious. We have already played so many games with these countries, and there was no sense in these matches. I think that postponing the decision for a year is the right thing to do. Then something concrete may appear. Therefore, I think this decision is wise, because many of our teams want to play in the Champions League and Europa League. I think that within a year everything should be back to normal.
— Almost all football experts welcomed the RFU’s decision to refuse to move to Asia in the near future. Are you not surprised by such unanimity? Still, there must be different opinions…
— I think that before the vote, the members of the executive committee discussed everything and agreed on something. On the one hand, our teams did not show themselves in the Champions League when they participated in this tournament, and it is not clear what is better for us: to show our level of football or to hide.
— Are you ready to wait for this for many years?
— Maybe in a year everything will be decided. What’s the point of subscribing to Asia? We don’t know when all this will end.
— Dyukov said that we can take advantage of the opportunity to move to Asia next year, that is, the issue is not completely closed. Why go back to him?
“I don’t know why this decision was made.
— Members of the RFU executive committee considered that moving to Asia did not make sense, because FIFA does not guarantee admission to international tournaments. Is this a compelling argument to postpone the decision?
— I think that Asia is a reserve airfield. But it’s not correct. Will our level in UEFA rise because we move to Asia? It’s a difficult question. I think that the people who lead our football should think about its development.
“But now there is no development if we stew in our own juice.”
– It’s not there, but you need to think about it. It’s not clear to us whether it’s good or bad that we don’t play in Europe, because if we were always eliminated from European tournaments, then there would be talk about why we need this at all,” Euro-Futbol.Ru quotes Silkin as saying. .
