Honored coach of Russia Alexander Tarkhanov does not consider the creation of a football Super League a good idea.

In April 2021, 12 European clubs announced the creation of the Super League. It included the Spanish “Real”, “Atlético”, “Barcelona”, the Italian “Milan”, “Inter”, “Juventus”, the English “Arsenal”, “Chelsea”, “Manchester City”, “Manchester United”, “Liverpool “, “Tottenham”. Subsequently, amid criticism, nine clubs refused to participate in the project, in which Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus remained interested. In the middle of this year, the Turin club announced that it was leaving the Super League.

“The creation of the Super League will crush existing football, because only the leading teams will play in this tournament. In the Champions League we see stories such as Copenhagen reaching the playoffs. Most clubs, especially small ones, are against the creation of this tournament. There must be a certain equality,” Tarkhanov told RT.

FIFA and UEFA initially opposed the Super League project, threatening to impose sanctions on clubs and players who might decide to participate in this tournament. On Thursday, the European Court declared these actions of FIFA and UEFA illegal.
