Former Milan general director Adriano Galliani, who holds a similar position at Monza, spoke out against the idea of creating a football Super League.
On December 21, the European Court declared illegal the actions of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to ban the creation of the Super League. A project for a new international club tournament was immediately proposed, which provided for the expansion of the Super League to 64 teams.
“My Monza will only participate in UEFA tournaments,” RBC Sport quotes Galliani.
In April 2021, the English “Manchester United”, “Manchester City”, “Tottenham”, “Liverpool”, “Chelsea” and “Arsenal”, the Spanish “Barcelona”, “Atletico” and “Real”, the Italian “Milan”, “ Inter and Juventus announced the creation of the Super League. After the threat of sanctions from FIFA and UEFA, only Real Madrid and Barcelona remained in the Super League.
