Former Khimki midfielder Reziuan Mirzov called the period of work under the leadership of Spartak Gogniev in a club near Moscow the most difficult in his career.
Gogniev headed Khimki from September 3, 2022 to April 3, 2023. Under his leadership, the club won only one victory in 19 matches.
“I’ll say this: this period was the most difficult in terms of emotions, condition and everything else in my entire career. Well, okay, it’s still the initial period at Spartak. But under Gogniev we lost every week, every week there was some kind of negativity. I swear, I wanted to finish football – a very difficult time. I don’t know who is to blame. I didn’t understand what was happening, what to do, how to play football—I didn’t understand anything.
Gogniev demanded from me what I couldn’t do. I told him about this, but he proved to me that it would still work out. He wanted to change me so that I could play as a forward, so that I would fall to the flank. But I’ve been playing on the left all my life, and they put me in as a central striker and asked me to fight on horseback, which is not my strong point. But it was impossible to convince Gogniev,” the “Championship” quotes Mirzov.
30-year-old Mirzov played 67 matches for Khimki and scored 14 goals. Since September 2023, he has been playing for the Azerbaijani Neftchi.
