Fakel goalkeeper Alexander Belenov spoke about the changes in the team’s play and the mood of the players after the arrival of Sergei Tashuev as head coach.
In September, 64-year-old Tashuev replaced Vadim Evseev at the helm of Fakel. Under his leadership, the team played 14 matches, winning five times, drawing the same number of times and losing four times, gaining a total of 20 points.
— When under Sergei Tashuev you became a stable number one, did you feel more confident in your abilities?
— I think that self-confidence appears when you see the result of your work. I won’t say that before that I trained poorly and did something wrong, but at that time we had big changes in tactical terms, there was a shake-up with the arrival of a new coach, the results changed. This made not only me, but everyone feel confident.
— You also crossed paths with this mentor at Salyut and Kuban. How is your mutual understanding maintained? Has Tashuev changed in terms of coaching?
— I have normal working relationships with many coaches. I don’t make friends with anyone. Tashuev’s approach to work has not changed. Of course, he has become wiser and more experienced because he has worked in many clubs in Belarus, in Akhmat,” Metaratings.ru quotes Belenov.
“Fakel” scored 21 points in 18 matches and ranks 11th in the WORLD RPL standings.
