“There is no other option.” Demenko predicted Abaskal’s future at Spartak
The new sports director of Spartak, Tomas Amaral, will bring his coach to the club, and Guillermo Abascal will work until the end of the season, says ex-Red-White player Maxim Demenko.
On Friday, Spartak announced the appointment of Amaral to the post of sports director. The Portuguese will start work on January 1. In this position, he will replace the Englishman Paul Ashworth, who will take the post of technical director of Spartak.
“Abaskal is already in a dangerous position.” In the Russian Championship today the gap from the leader is eight points. Krasnodar and Zenit are in the fight, and they have resources. I especially mean Zenit. And with this situation, Spartak will achieve nothing. And even if Abascal can compete for second or third place, what does that give now? Almost nothing. We already understand perfectly well that Abascal is finalizing his work until the end of the season, and the next one a new coach will come from the Portuguese sports director. These are the only thoughts I have. There is no other option here,” Gazeta.Ru quotes Demenko.
Spartak finished the first part of the MIR RPL season in fifth place in the standings, gaining 30 points. The gap between the “red and whites” and the leading “Krasnodar” is eight points.
