Ex-Spartak footballer Davydov hopes that Promes will return to the club
Former Spartak footballer Denis Davydov expressed hope that red-and-white striker Quincy Promes will cope with difficulties and return to the Moscow club.
Promes is still in the UAE, where Spartak held winter training camps before the resumption of the RPL season. According to media reports, the football player was detained by police at Dubai airport. It was reported that the Dutchman left the scene of the accident, which became the reason for his arrest.
— “Spartak” without Promes is a different team?
– Certainly. Quincy is the leader of Spartak and is greatly missed. I hope he will cope with all the difficulties, return home and strengthen the team,” RB Sport quotes Davydov.
Last summer, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to 18 months in prison for assaulting his cousin; in February, the footballer was found guilty of drug smuggling, and the court sentenced him to six years in prison. On February 27, the press service of the Amsterdam prosecutor’s office told Match TV that Promes’ lawyer had filed an appeal.
Spartak is sixth in the RPL standings with 31 points.
