Zenit head coach Sergei Semak called the terrorist attack in the Moscow region, which occurred on Friday evening, a shock.
Zenit played a friendly match with Red Star in Belgrade on Saturday. The meeting ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of the hosts. The goal was scored by defender Nikola Knezevic, who scored in the 82nd minute. Before the match, a minute of silence was held in honor of the victims of the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow. In addition, fans hung a banner dedicated to the tragedy with the words “Moscow, 22.03. We mourn.”
— As for the tragic events that occurred in Moscow, of course, it came as a shock to any normal person. As for the match and the support of the fans, I thank them very much for their empathy with our people in such a difficult time. The fans who came today showed respect and empathy for this situation by their arrival. This is a big blow for all of us.
It was a good game. Unfortunately, we couldn’t score and missed the most important goal. And we had good moments. In terms of composition, they gave the opportunity to play more for those who receive less playing practice. Those who did not come are recovering and working in St. Petersburg.
Is the result logical? Hard to tell. The team that scores wins. If we failed to score or scored, but the goal was not counted… In any case, the score is on the scoreboard. And it’s wrong to talk about how many chances someone had and how logical the result was. “Crvena Zvezda” – with a victory, and we will prepare for official matches. Our execution let us down today; we couldn’t score.
As for the missed goal, we played poorly and Artur Cherny was not coordinated. The ball bounced into the center, it was well managed by the opposing player,” the Match TV correspondent reports Semak’s words.
On Friday evening, unknown persons opened fire at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk. According to the latest data from the Russian Investigative Committee, 133 people died. The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case regarding the terrorist attack.
On March 30, Semak’s team will play away against Samara “Wings of the Soviets” in the 22nd round of the MIR RPL.
