Akron Tolyatti midfielder Nikita Glushkov spoke about everyday life while playing for the Slovak club Slavoy.
Glushkov played for Slava from 2013 to 2014.
“Many people can’t get used to the fact that everything in Europe closes very early.
– This is a total disaster! Nothing works there on weekends either. Once my girlfriend came to me for 10 days. We ran out of regular water, we came to the store, and everything was closed until the next day. We ended up boiling water in a ladle.
— Krasnodar graduate Alexander Luzin played in Slovakia a couple of years after you and said that the salaries in the lower leagues are very good. On the contrary, you said that the salary is small.
— Yes, I was paid very little, even when compared with the Russian Second League of that time. Even then the difference was big – my salary was 300 euros with an exchange rate of 60 rubles. It turns out, about 20 thousand.
— How did you live on these 300 euros?
“The club rented an apartment and fed us two or three times a day. Of course, there was such food there that it was easier to cook something yourself. Everything was terrible, a professional athlete cannot eat like that. Conventionally, for breakfast we had some huge sausages, and for lunch at the same eatery they poured soup from a ladle that looked like it hadn’t been washed for 50 years.
When I lived in Slovakia for the second year, we had dinner with one of our grandfathers, who supported our club and owned a restaurant. It was very tasty there, I constantly waited for the evening to eat properly,” Metaratings.ru quotes Glushkov.
