Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi criticized the new rules in MLS, reports ESPN.
In the match with Montreal Impact (3:2), the Argentine forward received a blow to the knee, after which he was not immediately able to get up from the lawn.
According to the league’s new rules, if a referee stops play due to a possible injury to a player and he remains off the turf for more than 15 seconds and medical personnel enter the field, the referee may require the player to leave the field for 2 minutes.
Messi had to leave the field. Standing on the sidelines, the Argentine turned to the cameras and said: “Things will be bad with these rules.”
Inter Miami leads the Eastern Conference table with 27 points from 13 games.
