Former Zenit football player Konstantin Zyryanov answered a question about his desire to coach and explained why he agreed to work in the structure of the St. Petersburg club.
Now Zyryanov holds the post of adviser to the chairman of the board of the “blue-white-blue”. Zyryanov’s last place of work was Chernomorets Novorossiysk, where he was the head coach and which he left in November 2023.
— Tell us why you agreed to work at Zenit in principle? I read from one of my ill-wishers: Zyryanov simply did not receive offers for coaching, that’s why he went to Zenit.
— Why immediately ill-wishers? How many people, so many opinions. I’m not some big bill that everyone will like. Some people treat me with sympathy, others may even hate me. However, on this occasion I remember the story from the autograph session at the stadium, when the fans shouted “Welcome home.”
That’s what’s important to me. And not what strangers write on the Internet. We talked for a long time with the club management regarding my position and discussed how I could benefit Zenit. We settled on this format. I had offers. And more than one. But I decided to stay in St. Petersburg.
– But do you want to train?
— I don’t close the door to coaching for myself. Open for suggestions. But now I have another job, and I’m focused on it,” Zyryanov was quoted as saying by “Championship.”
