Former CSKA defender Ivan Taranov admits that the leadership of the army club dismissed Vladimir Fedotov from the post of head coach due to new ambitions and tasks facing the team.
Fedotov left his post on June 3. The specialist has led the Muscovites since June 2022. Together with the team, he won the Russian Cup and won silver awards in the Russian Premier League (RPL) the season before last. Last season, CSKA took 6th place, and was eliminated from the Cup at the final stage of the RPL Path.
— I don’t know how logical and justified Fedotov’s dismissal is. From the point of view of the result, Fedotov’s dismissal is logical. If we understand it in such a way that it was not the easiest season and not the most stellar lineup, it may be illogical. If you track the opinion of the fans, everyone was friendly and praised Fedotov. Maybe they were fired with an eye to the future – new ambitions and tasks,” Taranov is quoted as saying by “Championship”.
