The French team beat the Austrian team in the group stage match of the 2024 European Football Championship.
The meeting of Group D took place in Dusseldorf and ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of the French team. In the 38th minute of the match, Austrian national team player Maximilian Weber cut the ball into his own goal.
At the end of the second half, the captain of the French national team, Kylian Mbappe, was injured. In a collision with an opponent, the forward bloodied his nose, after which he was replaced. The broadcast footage showed Mbappe’s face after the injury: the video clearly shows a deviated nasal septum and the striker’s swollen nose.
For the head coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, this victory was his 100th at the head of the team.
In the second round of the group stage, the French team will play against the Netherlands on June 21, and on the same day Austria will meet with Poland.
