The Georgian national team did not deserve to be defeated by Turkey in the 1st round match of the group stage of the 2024 European Football Championship, said former Lokomotiv player Zaza Janashia.

The Group F meeting, which took place on June 18 in Dortmund, ended with a score of 3:1 in favor of the Turkish team.

— Lack of luck and experience. We should never have lost. We had more chances, but what about Turkey? Several hits from afar. We were just unlucky. We played better in the last 15-20 minutes. The boys still played well. There is no excitement; if they were afraid, the result would be different. It was nice to watch the game,” Championship quoted Janashia as saying.

In the second round of the group stage, Georgia will play against the Czech Republic, and Türkiye will meet with Portugal. Both matches will take place on June 22.
