Zenit midfielder Maxim Glushenkov said in an interview with Match TV that he would have moved to Krylia Sovetov in 2019, and not to Spartak, if he had known in advance how his career would turn out.

In 2019, Glushenkov transferred to Spartak from Chertanovo, then played for Krylia Sovetov twice on loan. In the summer of 2022, the Samara team bought the rights to the player, and in the winter he became a Lokomotiv player.

— Zinkovsky from Chertanovo went to Krylia Sovetov, you went to Spartak. Although later you also ended up in Samara. Was there no option to go together right away, especially since you ended up in Krylia anyway?

— There was no option with Krylia then. Plus, I was going to Spartak anyway, I was counting on and hoping for something there. But if I had known my fate in advance, I would have said, of course, that I wouldn’t go. And if it were up to me, I would have gone to Samara straight away, — Glushenkov told Match TV.

In June 2024, Glushenkov signed a contract with St. Petersburg Zenit for four years with the possibility of extending it for another season.

In preparation for the season, Zenit is taking part in the Winline Summer Cup, which is taking place in St. Petersburg from July 2 to 12. Sergei Semak’s team will play against Argentina’s Talleres on Friday and against Serbia’s Cervna Zvezda on July 8. Watch the broadcasts of these games on the Match holding channels.
