Former Russian footballer Dmitry Sychev believes that St. Petersburg’s Zenit will not drag out the intrigue in the championship race until the last round in the new season of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
On Saturday, in the first round of the MIR RPL, Zenit beat Krylia Sovetov away with a score of 4:0. Earlier, Sergey Semak’s team beat Krasnodar with a score of 4:2 in the OLIMPBET Russian Super Cup match.
— I think it is obvious to everyone that Zenit is the clear favorite (RPL). The newcomers have blended in so seamlessly with the team — it is a pleasure to watch. The management drew conclusions after last season, when they brought the intrigue to this point (the fate of the championship was decided in the last round — Ed.). In the next round of the MIR RPL, Zenit will play Rubin in Kazan on July 27.
