“This season there are some who can compete with Zenit in the fight for the championship” – Semin

This season there are teams that are capable of competing with Zenit in the fight for victory in the Russian football championship, former head coach of Lokomotiv and the Russian national team Yuri Semin told Match TV.

Zenit beat Dynamo in the fourth round of the MIR RPL. The match took place in St. Petersburg and ended with a 1:0 victory for the hosts. The Petersburgers are leading the Russian championship standings with 12 points, followed by Dynamo and Lokomotiv (9 points each).

— Will anyone be able to stop this Zenit this season?

— I think they have to. The teams are quite well-fortified: Spartak, CSKA, Krasnodar… The game with Dynamo was absolutely equal, although Dynamo was playing away. They could have not lost the match. Lokomotiv was also playing well now. So there is someone to compete with Zenit. And they will. I don’t see anything to say that Zenit cannot be beaten, — Semin told Match TV.

Zenit has become the champion of Russia in the last six seasons.
