Akron beat Fakel and advanced to the Russian Football Cup playoffs ahead of schedule
Tolyatti’s Akron defeated Voronezh’s Fakel in the fourth round of the group stage of the FONBET Russian Football Cup.
The Group D match, which took place in Samara, ended with a score of 2:0. The goals were scored by Vladimir Khubulov and Sergey Gribov.
Akron newcomer Artem Dzyuba entered the field in the starting lineup and was replaced in the 62nd minute.
Akron scored eight points, moved up to second place in the table and advanced to the Russian Cup playoffs ahead of schedule, Fakel (0) is in last place. Earlier, Zenit from St. Petersburg (10) secured a place in the playoffs, while Rubin Kazan (6) is in third place in the group.
In their next match on October 1, Fakel will play away against Rubin, and the following day, Akron will meet Zenit in St. Petersburg.
