Lokomotiv defender Alsu Abdullina said that the level of the Russian women’s football championship has increased in recent years.
— It’s important to win every match, we want to compete for prizes. The level of the championship is growing, every team is now showing football, and it’s hard to play with each one. It’s not the same now as it was three years ago. We could previously beat teams at a lower level with a larger score, but now everything is growing, and I’m happy about it. Plus, it benefits the popularization of football,” Abdullina told Soviet Sport.
On Saturday, Lokomotiv defeated the capital’s CSKA in the final match of the Winline Russian Women’s Football Cup. The meeting took place at the VEB Arena and ended with a score of 2:0.
For Lokomotiv, this Russian Cup became the third in club history. The team previously won the trophy in 2020 and 2021.
