Russian ex-football player Igor Kolyvanov answered the question of what the absence of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo among the contenders for the Ballon d’Or means for world football.
The Ballon d’Or will be awarded during a ceremony on October 28 in Paris. For the first time since 2003, neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo are nominated for the award.
— The absence of Messi and Ronaldo in the contenders for the Ballon d’Or means nothing for world football. They have already become old. I hope that others will grow up, and we will wait for new stars like Yamal. He’s handsome, but the most important thing is that he doesn’t get hit too hard,” Kolyvanov told the Championship.
Messi has won the Ballon d’Or eight times, Ronaldo five.
