“A draw was not our goal” – Orenburg coach Slishkovich about the RPL match against Krylya Sovetov
Orenburg head coach Vladimir Slishkovich said on Match TV that his team did not have the goal of playing a draw with Samara’s Krylia Sovetov in the 12th round of the WORLD RPL.
On Sunday, the Orenburg team tied at home with Krylya Sovetov (2:2). The guests played in the minority from the 68th minute. The home team fought back, losing 0:2 during the match. Orenburg played its first match under the leadership of Vladimir Slishkovich. The Bosnian specialist took charge of the team on October 7, replacing David Deogracia in this post.
— Has your new job gotten on your nerves today?
“Unfortunately, that’s how the game went, especially the first half. Let’s just say we played, they scored. What are they dangerous about and what we have been working on all week, counterattacks, unfortunately, we made mistakes – these were not individual errors, but line errors. We need to work on this, fix it. A lot of work. Most importantly, we know where our problems are. In the second half it was easier for us due to the opponent’s red card, but it was still not easy. With nine players and the goalkeeper standing in the last 20 meters, we were able to score two goals. So maybe this draw is natural.
— Your colleague Igor Osinkin said before the match that you surprised him with the starting lineup.
— I can say that I was pleased with the moments of the attack. We created chances and pressure, especially on the flank. We knew there was space there. Marin and Oganesyan created problems for Orenburg there. Of course, when a team makes a mistake without pressure, a counterattack occurs. “Wings” are very strong in these moments. We paid dearly for our two mistakes because they gave us two goals and there was another post. Substitutions had to be made not because the players were playing poorly, we needed other players to try to change this game.
— Brian Mansilla came on as a substitute, Matias Perez gave him the captain’s armband. We know that he had health problems.
— They agreed with Matthias. This is a question of respect too. Mansilla’s problem is that he has been injured for a long time. He spent almost only one training session with the team; he was not physically ready. Mansilla can cause problems for any defense in the championship. When I entered the field, there was more pressure on the opponent.
— How satisfied are you with the result?
– When you look at how the game went – 0:2, and you finish the match 2:2, you can be satisfied. But our goal was not a draw. What’s good is that the guys created chances until the end, they wanted to score, they showed character. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to score the third goal, but next time maybe we will,” Sliskovic said.
Orenburg scored eight points and ranks 15th in the Russian Championship standings. In the next round, Vladimir Slishkovich’s team will host Rubin Kazan on October 27.
