Security measures have been strengthened at the Stade de France ahead of the Nations League group stage match between France and Israel, reports RMC Sport.
The match is at very high risk due to the conflict in the Middle East. In this regard, the French authorities decided to install metal bars with spikes in the stadium, and cover the first seven rows of seats with a tarpaulin to create a “buffer” zone and thereby complicate the problem of possible penetration of fans onto the field.
About 4,000 police officers and 1,600 stewards have been mobilized to ensure security. Several political figures are planning to attend the match, such as Emmanuel Macron, Michel Barnier, Francois Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy.
At the Stade de France, which seats more than 80 thousand spectators, only 20 thousand tickets were sold. According to RMC, this may become an anti-record for attendance at matches of the French national football team. The meeting will take place on Thursday, November 14th.
Earlier in November, Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were attacked on the streets of Amsterdam after a Europa League match with Ajax. The media published footage from the capital of the Netherlands showing brutal attacks on fans by unknown masked people. Some of the attackers carried Palestinian flags and chanted “Free Palestine.”
