Leshchuk believes that Dynamo can win back the seven-point gap from Zenit in the RPL standings

Dynamo goalkeeper Igor Leshchuk in an interview with Match TV said that the “blue and white” still lay claim to high places in the RPL, despite the seven-point gap from the leader.

On Monday, in the match of the 17th round of the MIR RPL, Dynamo played away to a draw with Akhmat with a score of 1:1. Leshchuk’s goal saved the team from defeat; the player came into someone else’s penalty area to take a corner in the 90+5th minute of the match. The Blue and White scored 32 points and are in fifth place in the standings, with Zenit leading with 39 points.

— We probably saw that both Krasnodar and Zenit lost. Did it give you an extra boost?

“There was definitely a desire in my head to win and get closer to the leaders. But we didn’t show this in the game. I don’t know what this is connected with. We had a good chance to take advantage of our competitors’ failures.

— We are now six and seven points behind Krasnodar and Zenit, respectively. Isn’t this critical?

— Last season, before the winter break, we also did not expect to participate in the championship race. We hoped, but it seemed that the gap was too big and that our competitors wouldn’t let us in. But in the end it turned out that we fought until the last round.

Sports and football are unpredictable things. Anything can happen, the main thing is to go into every game with the right attitude and try to win. At the end of the season, it will be clear where and in what place we will end up,” Leshchuk said in an interview with Match TV.

Live broadcasts of MIR RPL matches can be watched on the Match TV and MATCH PREMIER TV channels, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
