“We trust Mudrik. He will be back, but we don’t know when yet.” – Chelsea manager Maresca
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca commented on the positive doping test of Ukrainian striker Mikhail Mudryk, expressing confidence that the player will return to play for the club.
Earlier, Chelsea and Mudryk himself confirmed that a prohibited substance was found in his doping test. According to The Telegraph, meldonium was found in sample “A”.
— We trust Misha. When this happens, you need to support your player in everything. Misha is a Chelsea player, maintaining contact with him is my responsibility. Me, the club, his teammates – we’re all here. I think he will return, the only thing is we don’t know when exactly. Any player in the world needs support when something like this happens. It doesn’t matter whether he is 20 or 30, whether he is English, Italian or Ukrainian.
It’s exactly the same with Misha. I’m here to try and help him with whatever he needs because at the moment it’s normal that he might need support from me, from the club, from his teammates and we’re all here to try and help him. – Maresca said, as quoted by Express.
In the current season of the English Championship, Mudryk played seven matches for Chelsea and was not effective. In the Conference League, he scored three goals and provided three assists in six games.
