Dyukov spoke about the neutral status of the Russian national team if the team is admitted to tournaments

The head of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Alexander Dyukov, spoke about the possible neutral status of the Russian national team if it returns to the international arena, noting that it is necessary to fight for the team to perform under its own flag and with the national anthem.

Earlier, Dyukov said that in 2025 he expects all Russian national teams and clubs to return to international competitions.

FIFA and UEFA in February 2022 suspended Russian national teams and clubs from participating in tournaments under their auspices for an indefinite period. The Russian national team was unable to take part in the playoffs for the right to play at the 2022 World Cup, missed the 2024 European Championship and two Nations League draws. Also, the Russian team was not allowed to participate in the 2026 World Cup qualifying draw, which took place in December.
