Silkin – about Safonov’s victory in the French Super Cup: “Some kind of super-praise happens in Russia”
Former Dynamo Moscow coach Sergei Silkin believes that in Russia the victory of Russian PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov in the French Super Cup is overestimated.
On Sunday, the goalkeeper won the first trophy in his professional career – PSG beat Monaco (1:0) in the Super Cup match, but the Russian himself remained on the bench.
“He did not take part in the match, but still won the trophy. We generally receive some kind of super praise when our players take to the field as part of European teams. “He became the winner of the tournament because he took part in cup matches before,” Euro-Futbol.Ru quotes Silkin.
Safonov moved from Krasnodar to PSG in the summer of 2024.
