Promes can continue his career in the Dubai United or Latvia, the football player lawyer said

The former forward of Spartak Quincy Promes can play football for the Dubai United or a club from Latvia if an agreement is reached with the Netherlands Justice bodies, the athlete’s lawyer Jam Palat said.

Promes are present at the hearing in the Court of Appeal of Amsterdam, who considers the question of whether his imprisonment will be extended.

– He needs to earn money for his minor children, now this money is not. He can go to the club for which he spoke (United), and there is a team of the highest level from Latvia, which is interested in it. And there are several more options, – quotes the words of Polat Gelderlander.

According to him, the clubs interested in Promes want to know if he can freely move around the world.

– My goal is to return to the highest level. I have never been on the run, ”said the football player himself.

In February last year, the Amsterdam court found Promes guilty of drug smuggling and sentenced him to six years in prison. In addition, in the summer of 2023, the football player was sentenced to 18 months in prison for attacking a cousin. The Netherlands authorities previously turned to the UAE with a request to extradite a football player. The UAE was also instituted against Promes – he did not return from the collection of Spartak to Russia because of an accident in Dubai and, in anticipation of a court decision, spent two months in prison, and then was released on bail without the opportunity to leave the country.
